Ellen DeGeneres to be new American Idol Judge

Yesterday, Ellen DeGeneres announced on her television show that she is set to be the fourth judge on Fox's American Idol.

I really don't watch American Idol, and I am not sure what music reference Ellen would bring to the show. Though I think that she is a great performer, and could comment on that, I think that she is right when she states that most of her comments will be based on an audience from of mind. Not that American Idol needed a ratings boast, but adding was a wise choice and should help secure their top spot for the coming season.
